Oxfam is an International confederation of 14 independent, non-governmental
organizations working together with over 3,000 partners in 99 countries to
achieve our vision of ‘a just world without poverty’. Our Secretariat is based
in Oxford, with advocacy offices in Washington DC, New York, Brussels and
Geneva.
This is a key role in supporting the confederation’s 14 affiliates to ensure the
maximum impact of Oxfam International’s humanitarian responses. You will do
this by working with affiliates to support and facilitate the development of
their Humanitarian capacities and ensure their compliance with Oxfam’s
humanitarian standards. Oxfam wants to excel in two core competencies, Water,
Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Emergency Food Security and Vulnerable
Livelihoods (EFSVL). Different affiliates are currently developing investment
plans in these competencies. You will coordinate the WASH and EFSVL working
groups within Oxfam. In addition, you will be accompanying new members of
Oxfam’s Humanitarian core group (The Humanitarian Consortium) with the
implementation of their humanitarian investment plans.
You will have extensive field experience of humanitarian work and international
humanitarian systems as well a real desire to work for justice against poverty
and suffering. You will be a team player with excellent organizational skills,
a good communicator with a patient yet persistent approach and have good
computer skills. You must be prepared to travel up to 12 weeks a year and have
the natural sensitivity to be able to work effectively at times of great human
stress. Experience of implementing WASH or Livelihood programs is desirable.
Fluency in English required and competence in French and/or Spanish is
desirable.
The post holder must have the legal right to be employed in the UK.

Job Purpose |
To promote OI organisational development from an Humanitarian perspective
and ensure the integration of Humanitarian work in different key processes. |
Key Responsibilities |
-
Support and
facilitate the process of development of Oxfam’s humanitarian core
competencies (WASH and EFSL/VL)
-
Support Oxfam
affiliates joining the HCMG (Humanitarian Consortium Management Group),
among others through implementation of their investment plans.

Support Development
of Humanitarian capacities of new OI affiliates and ensure their
compliance with OI standards.

Follow up on long
term tsunami evaluation work.

Provide support to
the changes in humanitarian processes due to SMS

Providing support
to the OI Humanitarian Director as required.
