The Institute of Rural Research & Development (IRRAD) is an initiative
of the S.M. Sehgal Foundation and is one of the leading nonprofit
organizations working in the area of rural development in India. IRRAD’s
mission is to help reduce poverty and improve the quality of life of
people in the villages. IRRAD works through its four main centers; Rural
Research Centre (RRC), Capacity Building Centre (CBC), Natural Resources
Management (NRM) and Policy, Governance and Advocacy (PGA).
IRRAD has the following opening for its Policy Governance and Advocacy (PGA)
center:
Program Leader
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
·
Analyze and prioritize issues of rural governance
·
Work on models to strengthen rural governance
·
Interact with rural communities and
plan/coordinate/conduct training sessions on governance
·
Assist in planning and coordinating policy level
initiatives
·
Collect and analyze public opinion about social issues
affecting policy decisions
·
Participate in policy-making forums and assist in
preparing representations for policy changes
·
Research and analyze local issues and advocate appropriate
changes in policy
The
minimum qualification required is Masters degree in Public Policy/
Sociology/ Law/Human Rights/Political Science or a related field with at
least 4-5 years of work experience in issues related to good governance,
rural development, public policy and advocacy, human rights, linking with
policy makers and analyzing the existing policies and proposing
recommendations.
The
candidate must have excellent communication and writing skills and
ability to network with government bodies, policy makers and other
development organizations.
