IMaCS is a consulting firm with more than 15 years of experience in executing consulting assignments across diverse sectors in India and overseas. IMaCS has been engaged by an UN Agency to provide Technical financial and human resource support to various programmes and operation. In this regard, IMaCS invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Manager, Sports for Development, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh to provide technical support to develop capacity for managing and integrating “sports for development” into the development agenda at the district level among schools and communities as well as at the departmental level, both sports and youth affairs and education

Major Tasks:-

The primary task of the Project Manager will be to build upon the achievements and co-ordinate implementation of the Annual Work Plan for Education that includes “Sports for Development” as agreed upon by all stakeholders with a focus on:

  • Sustaining use of  PEC in 250 primary schools under SSA in Medak
  • Refreshers for trainers and kridashrees across PYKKA villages
  • Harvesting lessons from the district to inform PYKKA implementation in the state
  • In light of RTE , supporting other Education programme activities

In particular, the incumbent’s responsibilities include:

  • A. At State level:
    • Development of  plans  for implementation of RTE for Andhra Pradesh to introduce PE in schools completed in partnership with SSA
    • Support the creation of Resource Teams for each district where PE cards have been supplied by the Government.
    • Overall liaison with state and district authorities to advance district-wide implementation of the project
    • Keep all stakeholders at the state level informed on the implementation of activities at the district
    • Co-ordinate responses to overcome problems and gaps being faced in the implementation of project activities, and where appropriate, recommend actions involving decision-making at a higher level.
    • Managing resources and budget; Maintaining records and producing written reports;
  • B. At District level:     
    • Facilitate the technical and social orientation of education administrators and PRIs on the importance and benefits of inclusive sport and recreation under RTE as a critical part of the overall educational experience and elicit active support for Sports for Development goals.
    • Co-ordinate implementation and monitoring of  PE in 250 primary schools in the district
    • Ensure geographical and programmatic convergence of the programme with PYKKA at the district level through extension of capacity-building activities of trainers.
    • Facilitate, through a cadre of community & NYKS youth volunteers, the organization of regular, locally relevant, inclusive sporting event.
    • Support implementation of Education programme activities at State & district levels.

 

Qualification and Experience:

·         University degree with experience of 5-7 years in a responsible position in government/semi-government/NGO in planning and management of programmes; desirable experience in Sports and/or Education.

·         Proficiency in English and Telugu is mandatory.

Contract Duration and Appointment: Initially for 6 months, but renewable. The professional fee is Rs 100000 per month (depending on the incumbent’s qualification and experience) and additional support costs for travel, communications, insurance and contingencies.
